Unfortunately I found out that I am not in the top 20. At least I got to the top 50. Thanks for everyone that voted.

Well I am finally here in the big capital, after the weeks of talk and no action I booked my ticket and arrived in record timing (for a Sunday anyway!). For the first time I travelled down under the cloak of darkness. Its a little bit intimidating under these circumstances but after reminding myself that its only London and I have visited it a million times I relaxed once more and took the underground as smoothly as usual.

I am so lucky to have my two brothers here and thus a choice in accommodation! Both are a stone's throw away from Canary Wharf and the O2, bustling metropolis' I love to see. They are so different. the business capital and the entertainment centre.

I am sat here at my second eldest brother's staring out over the Thames towards the O2, it looks so close I am seriously considering how difficult it would be to swim across and whether I could do it. I think with a bit of training, a very good wet suit and a prompt back up team (just incase) I could do it.

For now I shall continue to check the STA Travel Intern site every five seconds to see if I have made it to the top twenty. I both dread and wait with great anticipation for the moment I receive the email bearing STA's decision. Hopefully it will say "congratulations, welcome to the top twenty" but doubts keep nagging away in the back of my mind.

Must they wait so long to update their site? Not long now I hope.

I hope these little attempts to speak foreign languages are accurate! Sorry if they aren't.

Here are two other songs that, recently, I just can’t get enough of. Enjoy!

oh africa by akon

hey amores by shakira

Youtube music is keeping me sane while I wait for the results of the STA Travel Internship. Will I get into the top twenty? Only time will tell. Until then I'll dance away my anxiety with a mixture of modern favourites , fantastic songs that remain under the radar and some old classics.

Solo Dios lo sabe (only god knows)

So as I promised I have returned, having torn myself away from my application profile. I was half way through writing about the new ideal destination for me, Latin America, when I forced myself to stop and think. My writing for this section finally resembled that of a more than capable writer and anything I could conjure up now, at 10pm in a sleep deprived state, couldn’t possibly be written at such a competent level. No, I must leave well alone. Paris is a fantastic destination and doesn’t deserve to be cast aside.

Now in an attempt to calm myself, I have decided to write about what would have been my new ideal destination. The choice of Latin America can be explained due to one simple fact; it has all of the desired four S’s. Sun, sea, sand and sites! It also has fantastic locals and you are given the chance to make a difference to these peoples lives. Unfortunately that last aspect didn’t fit into my smooth ‘four S’ scenario and so has to lumped clumsily on the end of an otherwise great sum up.

For now, over and out

First I best start off by saying thanks to anyone who has voted for me, it means a great deal. Fingers crossed I get the internship.

STA Travel Internship’s second level of application is drawing to a close and as the seconds tick by the butterflies rise in my stomach. Doubts keep running through my head, next second I am back on the computer triple checking my grammar, and making sure that my quirky style is readable and enjoyable for the saner reader! What troubles me the most is the question ‘what is your ideal travel destination?’ a seemingly simple question that would have any normal person naming just one simple place. Alas if only it were that simple for me. Just as I think I have made up my mind another fantastic, possibly even better, destination pops up leaving me frantically re-writing that section in my application. I must have gone back to that question at least eight times. Japan, Thailand, Uganda and Paris have all been picked, written about and discarded, each one replacing the next. A half made PowerPoint presentation lies unused my recycling bin. An attempt to choose all of these places and avoid having to pick just one but the decision must be made and I can not answer ‘all of the above’.

Hmm…..best give this some more thought.

Le farò sapere (I'll let you know)

Sitting watching Easter telly forces me to also witness an array of adverts ranging from the bad and the downright weird to the fantastic and clever. I don't know if any of you have seen it but the twining's tea advert (www.youtube.com/watch) just makes me smile, it's simple and original.

Hope you agree.

I would like to think that my father keeps piling the wood on the fire to try and acclimatise me to a hotter environment, to help me when I experience the dramatic change in temperature when I go travelling. A nice thought seeing as it will be quite a shock to suddenly go from the freezing landscape of the English countryside to the sticky hotness that will be Thailand and Africa.

In reality he has become the coldest man in history and is determined to warm himself. It has become quite the role reversal tonight, I am usually the one who remains cold no matter what while he takes the role of ‘hottest man alive’! Honestly I think all Harrison men are destined to be like this, at the Christmas get together you feel as though you are looking out over a sea of men wearing shorts despite the fact that its minus twelve degrees centigrade! Its quite the on going family joke.

This sweltering front room has got me thinking about my travels. You might think that’s quite a strange link, but experiencing such heat makes you think about whether you can handle travelling in humid countries. Travelling is extremely important to me and I know I will travel no matter what but I really REALLY want to win this internship. You not only get to travel but you get to document and share it as you go. Just incase I don’t win it though I have begun to look at other experiences I could go on. Its really reassured me that on this search it has become evident that STA travel is one of the best companies to go with. They know how to plan an experience, whether it be the tempting ‘spirit of Europe tour’ or tours that help you go abit more exotic like exploring the mountainous ranges of Thailand or the rainforests of Latin America. i now know for certain that its going to be an amazing trip!

I haven’t gone to a lot of places by some peoples standards but I have done my fair share of travel. As a child I travelled annually around France with my family. I felt very lucky to see all these places and to experience so much culture but as the youngest of four with three step sisters these holidays were made even better, plenty of people to keep me entertained and to joke around with. I feel truly blessed to have all those fantastic childhood memories and I have immense respect for my father and stepmother for being able to handle seven children in the middle of France.

Recently we have travelled to more far off places like Sicily and Spain and have been lucky enough to gain a property in La Cala, Fuengirola, Spain. One of the best parts about visiting Spain is flying because of the experience of leaving the plane. The flying itself is really great too, I love seeing all the cities pass below me and the network of harvests fields knitted together but for some reason I strangely enjoy taking that first fantastic step onto foreign soil the most.

A simple act that most people wont think twice about but I love it for you are made extremely aware of the different climate you’re entering. Any one who’s arrived in a foreign country in the middle of the day has to agree, you definitely know your holiday has started when the indecently airconed coldness is swept away in less than five seconds as you walk down to the swelteringly hot airport shuttle bus. Now the words I have used to describe this experience may not seem all that appealing but personally I find the first ten minutes of this experience highly amusing. After this roller coaster beginning, where your bodies ability to regulate its temperature is truly tested, you feel as though you have earned the right to explore the country your visiting. Or is that just me? Well at least u can agree it’s the fastest way to reawaken your sense after being sat down for a couple of hours.

However further ponderings about how amazing it feels to be boiling hot in a different country and praising the efforts of my father on holiday must wait till next time. I gotta sleep

xx

O and just for the record I am completely at home now in this front room, heat? No problem!

ok so I think I now offically have the blog bug, I have only just finished my first and straight away I want to write the next! theres a sense of achievment, almost a sense of relief: you have shared those thoughts now onto the next.

I finally see how my sister gets sucked in, spending the early hours of the morning writing away on her blogs, it's one am and although my head keeps lolling to one side, my energy is lagging and my eyes are slowly closing my fingers seem strangely powered! They are urging me on, to carry on typing away, to share more but alas I must desist. :(

Till next time

O no! I have already failed on my 'special' endings and it's only my second post, well lets pretend its ok as this is just a mini one, an add on to comment on the first blog! agreed? good, thanks xxx
